HONG KONG TO MACAU BY BUS
Updated: Jan 18
The newly opened Bridge that connects Hong Kong to China and Macau is now open and here's why you should try it.
Most people who visit Hong Kong would usually take a little segue to Macau. Not only can this former Portuguese territory dazzle you with it's glitz and glamor, it can also tickle the adventurous side of you.
The Hong Kong - Macau - Zhuhai Bridge
This 55-kilometer bridge-tunnel system is currently holding a couple of world records. HZMB is now said to be the longest sea crossing and the longest fixed link on earth. It also required the building of 4 artificial islands.
If you are not quite fond of sea travel, then great news! You can now go to Asia's little Vegas by a bus. The trip will take around 40 minutes to an hour. For foreigners, you have to secure a series of immigration clearance but even this will not really take a while.
Traveling from Hong Kong
First, find the nearest MTR station within your area. Use your Octopus card in paying for the fare. Take the train going to Sunny Bay Station (Same station with Disneyland) then board the B5 bus which will bring you to the HZM Bridge Port. Purchase your tickets (65HKD Adults, 34HKD Toddlers) and proceed to immigration. Present your passport and a copy of your departure card. Don't forget to ill out your Arrival Forms from the counter. Follow the signs leading to the exit where the buses are parked and waiting. Present your tickets to the gate and board the bus. The ride took us about 45 minutes. It was absolutely smooth with no unnecessary stop overs.
Make sure to plan your itinerary beforehand. List down the places you'd want to see and group them according to their locations.
Upon arrival, they will no longer require you to fill out forms, just present your passport. After being cleared, follow the signs leading you to the exit. You would see buses parked on either side of the gate. For locals, they'd have to take the buses on the left side. The fare to the city is about 6HKD. 1HKD=1MOP. You may use HKD in Macau but you cannot use MOP in Hong Kong. For tourists, on the other hand, take the buses parked on the right. These are the Hotel/Casino buses which caters to the visitors for free. Just choose the bus according to your preferred destination.
Traveling From Macau
Proceed to the Parisian Hotel and Casino. Go directly to their basement parking. All buses headed back to the Ferry Stations are parked there. You may take the bus going to Taipa Ferry Station. Again, these buses are free. Upon arrival to Taipa, look for the bus going to HZM port. Once you've reached the HZM Port, proceed directly to the immigration and purchase your tickets back to Hong Kong. Easy Peasy!
