STICK ON NAILS
Updated: Jan 18
Husbands, take note. Want to know what's better than receiving flowers on any occasion? Having our nails carefully cleaned and pampered. For women, the feeling of exhilaration from coming out of the salon with those claws in a whole new color or style is incomparable. Oh wait. Okay, maybe we also feel the same way after a haircut, an eyebrow clean-up, an eyelash perm, or facials but, you know..
Prior to becoming a stay at home mom, I was so fixated on my nails. I always liked how my nails are so elongated and feminine thus I absolutely adore them every after a fresh manicure. Unfortunately, wearing nail polish was definitely frowned-upon on nursing students/nurses and with valid reasons. So, when I started working, I grew my nails a little bit longer so I can easily apply coats of nail lacquer on them. It also didn't help that my mom is quite into mani-pedis and that she would generously fund our monthly trip to the nail salon.
It is not a secret that motherhood changes a lot in women. Not only do they abandon their high-heels or stopped wearing bras, it is also utterly impossible for them to maintain having great nails. Of course, as stay at home moms, you have to shoulder the responsibilities of having a domestic life. Ergo doing the dishes, cooking, laundry, and other glamorous house chores would fall into your hands. Not to mention the constant need of being within your children's peripheral vision. You cannot even sit on the toilet throne in peace or without wide-eyed spectators. So yes, manicure is certainly out of the question. A nail tech was trying to hook me up with Gel Polish once and I almost gave in. Gel Polish can stay chic on your nails for as long as humanly possible. For some, it lasts even more than a month with no chipping. But then someone told me that the Gel Polish needs to be under a UV light and of course constant exposure to UV radiation is pretty harmful. It's just like using a tanning bed. Therefore, I stayed reluctant until I scrapped the idea altogether.
Discovering Stick on Nails The frustration made me almost gave up entirely with the idea of pretty nails. I only apply few coats if I am about to attend a wedding or something as special and I remove them the next day or when they already started chipping. That is why, I was so flabbergasted that I didn't find out about Stick on Nails sooner. I came across these nail stickers on Shopee and since they are only 17-23php a pop, I bought a couple. When I got them, I was initially disappointed since they do not even have any brand name nor packaging for instructions. Although, the nail set did look almost exactly as the ones on the photos. So I tried them on, and I was blown away. They were quite easy to put on, and they fit my nails perfectly. I had to remove the excess with nail clippers but it was not too complicated even for someone who is as inartistic as me. What was even more mind blowing was that they were water proof so they survived through multiple dish washing, laundry cycles, showers and hand washing. I even cleaned up Sofia's filthy aquarium and though it took me almost two hours of scrubbing the glass, the sticker didn't fall off. Of course there were minimal chipping at the end but nothing that can't be trimmed by nail cutters. I took them off after 7 days because I wanted to try my second set.
Since I know a lot of moms could relate, I filmed my nails while I was putting on the second set.
I love it! Now, I can easily have cute nails without worrying about them while doing my chores. Also, they are super fun and gorgeous, since there are various designs to choose from. Good bye boring colors! I don't have to worry about smudges too since there's no need to dry them up. It only took me less than 15 minutes to put them on. I'm so glad I found out all about these stickers! My nails are the bomb!
